People participating - yey!

Saturday 18th Feb 2012 – Come down to the Site Gallery between 5-7pm to see what 10 artists have been up to in the gallery space over the last couple of weeks.  Drinks, nibbles & activities to take part in – plus your chance to write on the gallery walls (in pencil and keep it clean mind!).  It has been an amazing 2 weeks with an incredibly broad range of artist-led participation work.  Talk to/find out about:

  • Sally about her soil surgeries,
  • Lyn about the hidden Sheffield participants discovered over the timeframe,
  • Steve about his evolving meditations,
  • Smizz & I about our subvertising project,
  • Charlotte about her libraries research
  • Hannah about making art in response to instructions from the public,
  • Ruthie’s discoveries of people’s histories through craft (I found myself talking about my primary school experiences whilst creating a pom-pom – I’ve not done one of those for years!)
  • Emily about her work making sculptures with kids,
  • Adam about his Co-fragilities project where he facilitated people to phone-in performances to the gallery.
For tonight only we have one last meditation led by Steve, a live phone-in duet, and a performance of a knitting chart created through a collaboration between Lyn and Ruthie.  We look forward to seeing you!

7th- 18th Feb 2012 – I’m soon  to be one of 10 artists in residence at Site Gallery, Sheffield, as part of their ‘A Time & A Place‘ project.  It’s an artist-led participation programme so come down and join in!  The gallery can be found at: 1 Brown Street  Sheffield, South Yorkshire S1 2BS and is open Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11am-5.30pm.  They also have a rather nice cafe open until 4pm and one of their patrons is Jarvis Cocker – how can you resist?!

Look out for debut album Maps of Revenge and Forgiveness by Sheffield band Infictions.  Release on the 20th Feb 2012.  Sleeve includes artist illustrations including one of my own!  Latest on the album and artwork can be found at:
